Echeveria Red Lantern forms a very tight, upright rosette. Unlike flat, open rosettes, 'Red Lantern' grows in a cup-shaped or urn-shaped formation, with its leaves curving inwards as if to hold light. This creates the "lantern" effect. The leaves are thick, fleshy, and spatula-shaped with a broad, rounded tip. They are densely packed and strongly cupped upwards, contributing to the deep, lantern-like structure of the rosette. The inner, newer leaves are often a yellow-green or lime green color. When exposed to intense sunlight, the plant undergoes a dramatic transformation. The leaves develop a deep, rich scarlet red, crimson, or orange-red hue. The color is often most intense on the outer leaves and the leaf margins, creating a beautiful gradient from a greener center to a fiery red exterior, much like a lit lantern.
