Echeveria Red Agate forms a very tight, compact, and symmetrical rosette. The structure is low-growing and stemless, often hugging the ground in a perfect, geometric form. The leaves are chunky, rounded, and very fleshy, similar to a collection of polished stones. They are broad at the base and come to a delicate, rounded point, overlapping tightly to create a dense, solid-looking rosette. 
The underlying color is a soft green or yellow-green. When exposed to bright, direct light, the leaves develop a beautiful, semi-opaque overlay of reddish-orange, amber, and coral tones. The color is often not a single solid block but has a subtle, variegated quality with hints of the green base showing through, much like the bands in a piece of agate. The leaf margins are often a more intense, deep red.
