Unlike the symmetrical, flower-like rosettes of Echeverias, 'Campfire' has a very different growth habit. It grows in a sprawling, stacking pattern. The leaves are tightly packed around a slender stem, forming a propeller-like shape. These stems branch outwards and upwards, creating a dense, clumping mat of foliage. The leaves are small, slender, and propeller-shaped. They are slightly fleshy but thinner than many Echeveria leaves. In lower light conditions or during its active growing season, the foliage is a lime green or apple green. When exposed to direct, bright sunlight and cool temperatures, the plant undergoes a spectacular transformation. The green pigments are replaced by intense shades of brilliant red, orange, and sometimes even a deep magenta.
